If your Honda Accord, Civic, Pilot, Crosstour or CR-Z suddenly shows the VSA light, the ABS light and the brake light at the same time, the problem is very often the VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) module.
What the VSA module does
The VSA modulator controls ABS, traction control and stability control. It has an electronic control board attached to the hydraulic unit. When that board fails, all three systems shut off and the warning lights come on.
Common signs of a failing VSA module
- VSA, ABS and brake lights on together
- Lights come and go, especially on bumps or in hot weather
- VSA or ABS trouble codes stored
- The scan tool can't communicate with the VSA module
Is it safe to drive?
Normal brakes usually keep working, but ABS and stability control are off. Have it checked and repaired as soon as you can.
Repair instead of replace
A new VSA modulator from the dealer is expensive. In most cases the hydraulic part is fine and only the electronics failed. We repair the control module you already have, test it on our bench and ship it back within 24 hours of arrival, with a 1-year warranty.
